Quick answer
The PurobotUltra is designed for straightforward setup and low-effort daily use. Follow the steps below to get your self-cleaning litter box running and keep it that way.
What makes the PurobotUltra different from other self-cleaning boxes?
The PurobotUltra combines an integrated AI camera with an auto-packing waste system. This means you can check on your pet remotely and go longer between emptying the waste drawer. The trade-off is that the unit is larger than basic models, so measure your space before buying.
How often should I clean the PurobotUltra?
The auto-packing system reduces daily handling, but you should still wipe down the interior and sensors every 2-3 weeks. The waste drawer typically needs emptying every 5-7 days for one cat, depending on litter type and usage. A full deep clean every month helps prevent odors.
Frequently asked questions
- How do I set up the PurobotUltra for the first time?
- Unbox the unit and place it on a hard, level floor. Fill the litter drawer with clumping litter up to the fill line. Plug in the power adapter, press the power button, and follow the on-screen prompts on the control panel. Connect to the PETKIT app via Wi-Fi to enable remote monitoring and scheduling.
- How do I connect the PurobotUltra to the PETKIT app?
- Download the PETKIT app from your app store. Create an account or log in. Tap "Add Device" and select PurobotUltra. Make sure your phone is on a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. Press and hold the Wi-Fi button on the unit until the indicator blinks, then follow the in-app pairing instructions. If pairing fails, check that your router is broadcasting a 2.4 GHz band and that the unit is within range.
- How do I use the auto-packing waste system?
- The auto-packing system activates automatically after each cleaning cycle. It seals waste into a bag inside the drawer. To empty, open the front panel, pull out the full bag, tie it closed, and dispose. Replace with a new bag from the included roll. The unit will notify you via the app when the drawer is full. Use only the recommended bag rolls to avoid jams. Generic bags may not seal properly.
- How do I clean the PurobotUltra sensors?
- Turn off and unplug the unit. Remove the litter drawer and waste drawer. Use a dry microfiber cloth to gently wipe the sensor windows located inside the drum and near the entrance. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials. Reassemble and power on. Dirty sensors can cause false full alerts or missed cleaning cycles. Wipe them every 2-3 weeks.
- What should I do if the PurobotUltra stops mid-cycle?
- Check for an error code on the display panel. Common causes: a stuck clump, an overfilled drawer, or a sensor obstruction. Remove the drum and clear any blockages. Ensure the waste drawer is not overfilled. Press the reset button on the control panel. If the issue persists, contact PETKIT support. Always use clumping litter and keep the litter level below the max fill line to prevent jams.
- How do I change the litter in the PurobotUltra?
- Press the manual clean button to run a cycle that sifts used litter. Open the top lid and remove the drum. Dump old litter into a trash bag. Wipe the drum with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly. Refill with fresh clumping litter up to the fill line, replace the drum, and close the lid. Do not mix different litter types; stick to one clumping formula for consistent performance.
